68 days left in the Land of the Rising Sun.
I'm counting the days when I have to return to Malaysia. To be honest, I feel sad that I have to leave the country that I've come to love. I'm going to miss everyone and everything here! :(
People say that a year is a long period of time, and some say that it'll pass by you in a blink of an eye.
I'm not sure whether to describe it as long or short.
But I do realise the need for me to return to my home. Sometimes I feel like the life I had in Malaysia was only a dream because it's so different to what I have now. Yet the funny thing is, it feels so surreal when I'm talking to my classmates in Japanese. It's kinda like whoa, everything is so different from what it was 8 months ago.
One year is a long short year.
P/S : Sorry for this utterly confusing post. Hee :)
And since many of you liked the video of my class during the chorus competition, I decided to post the video of the winning class! :D Prepare to be amazed!!!

I wanted to upload more pictures onto my Facebook album but it's failing on me. So I decided to post it up here. These are mainly pictures from my phone that I recently transferred to the computer. There are more but I thought I'll just show you guys the interesting ones for one. :)
This is one of the craziest purikuras I've ever taken and this is not the worst. :D We took this at Saty after the class barbeque. Our class won 2nd place in the school chorus competition which was a big surprise actually because we suck so bad during practice. We sang "We Are The World" by Michael Jackson.
Now this is just a gross picture of a huge earthworm I came across while walking back from school. I think it's dead because it wasn't moving much. (or maybe all earthworms are like that?) Anyway, if you think this is big, you should have seen the big sucker I found on Daikonzaka. It was thicker than my thumb and hands down the fattest earthworm I've ever seen in my life. Too bad I didn't had my camera with me. I think I'm the only one here who's fascinated by the size of these earthworms, Mowee & Matthieu just screamed like little girls when I played around with it. :D
Since it's late autumn now, we have changed our summer uniform for the winter one. Although it's against the rules, the girls wear sweaters over their uniform (me being no exception. It's freaking cold!) My class has the most colorful bunch of sweaters in the school and so we took this gradient shot. :) I'm the one in red. Everyone knows just how much I love that color. The H1N1 influenza has been spreading quite rapidly here in Japan. My school already has 25 cases (one of my classmates got it and has since recovered) and my host sister's school has a total of 60 students down with the influenza. Don't worry, apparently I'm one of the healthiest student in my school because I've gotten sick only once since I came here.
The funny thing is, back in Malaysia, I'd sneeze non-stop whenever I'm in an air-conditioned room (Liki should know this perfectly well) but here in Japan, with it's bone chilling temperatures and widespread flu, I've sneezed only less than 10 times. (I counted) Haha the irony of it all.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I'll try to update more often! (omg another empty promise??)

Although I did promise an update immediately after my previous post but whoops I repeated the one sin of blogging : letting my blog to rot. :D
I couldn't stand the stomach churning stench and the decomposition is so bad, I swear there are virtual vultures picking on the bones of my blog. Not to mention, I got reprimanded for not updating it.
So yeah, let's see, my previous post was dated September 23rd, and today is... well look at that, November 18th. So that means I haven't updated in 2 and a half months. No wonder my blog is one ripe stinky corpse.
Again, a lot of stuff happened in those 2 months and it is already late autumn (today's temperature is 4 degrees and it's freezing in my school skirt!) At the end of October, I participated in the Japanese Senior High School English Debate Competition and my team emerged 5th in the South and Central Nagano Tournament. But we ended up at 15th place in the Nagano Prefecture Tournament. Not surprisingly, Mowee & I were nominated as Best Debater. Still, I'm glad it's over because the topic was extremely difficult. "The Japanese government should prohibit worker dispatching"
Last Saturday, my host family took me to Disneyland! :D Before I came to Japan, I didn't expect them to bring me anywhere far so this definitely exceeds my expectations!
Disneyland was wonderful! The buildings were so beautiful that I thought I was in Europe and not in Japan. Lining up for the rides was a nightmare, we had to wait for 2 hours to enter "Winnie the Pooh's Hunny Hunt". But luckily it was raining very heavily that day and we had strong winds so the crowd was actually less than it usually was.
The parades were beautiful too and halfway watching the Christmas parade, everything felt so surreal. My childhood dream has been fulfilled! :) Now I can't wait for January where I will be going to another theme park (with more roller coasters) with my classmates. It should be fun since it would be freezing cold then. I can't wait to go skiing too!!
Now I'm studying Japanese at the volunteer centre everyday and practising my Japanese speech for the speech contest next Saturday. I'm not a participant in that contest by the way because the teachers thought it would be interesting for the exchange students to make a speech in Japanese.
I only have about 2 months left here in Japan! :( Half of me wants to go home to Malaysia but the other half doesn't want to leave this beautiful country. I was secretly happy when my classmates here asked me to extend my stay. I thought they were joking but turns out they were serious. :)
Another good news is that I've decided on which college and which course I want to join. (Hopefully it doesn't change again. I had wanted to pursue advertising design in the One Academy) I hope I will do well!

I know some of you want to kill me for not updating my blog regularly.
I'm sorry but at least I'm updating now. :)
It's now early autumn but it's still so hot!! Today is 27 degree celsius -.-
I don't feel the cold I think I'm supposed to be feeling because the girls here are wearing long sleeved woollen sweaters over their uniforms. They are cold-blooded people!!! O.O
But I can't wait for the leaves to turn red and yellow!!!
It's my first fall after all and some of the leaves are already turning golden yellow!!! Yay!
I'll take photos when it's more pretty. :D
Come 10th of October my school is having its annual 強歩大会 (School Marathon).
omg "yipee"~ (can you feel my excitement?)
Girls are going to run 26 km while the guys are going to do 28 km.
That's like 5 times more than the one I did while in CHS! x_x
And to prepare us for the marathon, my gym teacher has been making us run during gym class.
And wanna guess how much we run during that gym class?
5 km
No kidding. So basically, I'm running the CHS Merentas Desa twice a week.
On the brighter side, I realise I can run 5 km in 30 minutes. I was really surprised because while in CHS, I think I took more than 1 hour? (maybe because I wasn't even trying :P )
I'm going to Kyoto and Osaka on the 29th with my classmates as our class trip!
I'll probably be buying souvenirs for you guys there. (You know who you are :D )
I can't believe I only have about 4 months left here in Japan! O.O
Time flies! Before I came to Japan, I thought 1 year would be very long but who knew it would feel so short? I can still remember the day I was at KLIA like it was only yesterday.... But at the same time I also feel like I've known my host family and Japanese classmates like forever. Time is so weird.
Speaking of airports and leaving to a foreign country, my dear friend Yik Luei left for Russia on September 23rd (i think. Correct me if I'm wrong). I'm gonna miss him although he's very silent but he can be really sensitive and passionate. Too bad I couldn't send him off at the airport but I wish him the best! It will be hard at first but as time passes, I know he will definitely have the time of his life. A new chapter and an adventure. :)
Lantern festival is coming soon and I don't have mooncakes. :(
During these festivals (ones that mean a lot to me, especially CNY and Christmas) I miss my family and friends the most. I love you guys!!!! :D

Summer holidays are over!!! :(
It went by so fast and it sucks that Nagano gives its high school students a shorter summer break than the rest of Japan. But all in all, I had a fun summer! :D I went to the AFS International Camp in Oshima Island and stayed in Tokyo with another host family for one day where they brought me to tour around Shinjuku. I soooooo want to go back to Tokyo again!! The change in sceneries is refreshing, even though Tokyo is extremely crowded.
Let's see, what else did I do during my 3 short weeks of summer vacation?
I baked banana cake with my classmate & Mowee at my house. It turned out different from the real thing but it was delicious nonetheless (thank goodness).
Oh!! My host uncle, whom I call Tarzan, also took Itaru & I to the sea in Aichi prefecture. There, he taught us the basics of surfing!! :D Haha mind you, it doesn't mean I can surf like a pro now. I can barely stand on the board for more than 2 seconds. The crazy thing is, my host uncle got his friend to video me standing on the board and then falling into the ocean head first. And he uploaded the video into Youtube. O.O
I was absolutely shocked when Itaru showed me the video on his handphone. I'm officially embarrassed and too bad guys, I ain't gonna link the video onto my blog. :P
But that day at the sea was extremely fun! I like bodyboarding more but too bad it will be impossible to do in Malaysia with their tiny waves. Speaking of impossibilities, I'm disappointed that Malaysia doesn't have a kyudo dojo! :( I was hoping to continue my kyudo when I got back to Malaysia. Sigh. Maybe I'll try modern archery, though it's totally different.
Today, I met the French exchange student who will be joining my class. He can speak fluent Japanese since he has already studied the language for 3 years in France. I'm envious of him!! XD Downside is, he can't exactly speak English. Oh well, I just have to use my broken Japanese to speak with him.
My Japanese exam is in December and I've decided to take Level 3. I don't think I'm ready for Level 2 yet, besides, my Japanese isn't what you will call marvelous. I can still communicate with the Japs but it's riddled with grammatical errors and some random English words. -.-
Oh lest I fail to mention it, after I got back from AFS camp, I received a call that one of the camp staff was infected with H1N1. Then yesterday, I was also informed that someone from Fuetsu was down with the pig flu. Hoho so dangerous!!! Surprisingly I'm not really concerned about it. :D But it sucks that they cancelled club activities for 3 days as a precaution. I want Kyudo!!!!
Sorry it's not colorful or filled with pictures, I don't have my blogging mood switched on. :P
Alright till the next time I feel like updating!! XD じゃあまったね!!

Quickie update before I head off to AFS Summer Camp in Tokyo tomorrow.
As many of you already know from my facebook pictures, I visited Kyoto last Satuday for one day. All thanks to Akira and her dad for inviting me & Mowee to go with them! :) Kyoto was wonderful & I hope to go there again but for a longer stay. The temples there are pretty (though many of them look alike) and the food is delicious!! Host dad promised a trip to Kyoto in autumn when all of the leaves have turned red. I can't wait!!
Oh yeah, lest I fail to mention it, I got my hair cut.
Initially I wanted to let my hair grow long but it's summer now, and the weather is seriously very very hot!!!! Besides that, my host mum & host sister offered to cut my hair for me. Haha I was a bit skeptical at first but I wanted to save the expensive trip to the barber's. (It cost around RM 80 just for a normal hair cut) The end result wasn't that bad, though my fringe is kinda bit too short. But oh well my hair will grow back. :P
Yesterday I went for yakiniku dinner at スタミナ太郎 with my classmates. I had fun and we took lots of purikura. I think the main reason I enjoyed myself was because I got to spend time with my Japanese classmates & that they wanted me to join them. :)
My Japanese still isn't that good but I really hope to improve it so that I can take the exam in December. And also have a smooth conversation with the Japanese. I hope I hope I hope!!
Will update again after the camp!

Yay! 3 weeks of summer fun!
My only plans so far are the Kyudo National Tournament in Nara tomorrow, AFS Oshima Camp, Kyoto day trip with Akira, & baking banana cake with some friends. :) I hope I get to travel a bit during whatever free time I have right now. Kyudo club activities are still on as usual but it's okay since it's only in the morning.
During the past week, my class has had 2 farewell parties for the 4 classmates who will be going on student exchange programs respectively soon , and for Nathan, one of the ALTs here in Fuetsu. Nathan will be going back to America to continue his studies, and I'll really miss him. He has been great company during my free periods. Hope to see him again!! He said he's really interested in coming to Malaysia, and I hope he does!!! :P
I will also miss my 4 classmates who will be going away for year programs. Yu & Ryushi will be going to America, Fukiko to France & Akira will be heading off to Italy. Although I have only known them for a short time, I will miss them. Kinda makes me wish we had more time to get to know each other more. :(
I love Joy!! :) She's actually from China but she speaks really fluent English! Both of us had a fun time, especially when we sang a Chinese song that only the both of us could understand. :P I will miss her too when she leaves Japan later in August but she promised to meet with me again when she comes back to Japan in January. :D
With Lorie, the birthday girl!! :)
4 Filippinos, 1 Malaysian & 1 American. I had fun at the party, and it's kinda refreshing to get away from all of the Japanese confusion for a while sometimes. (But only to plunge into a world of Tagalog -.- )
Oh yeah, something for the 2A4 gang. I was thinking about it during one of my boring classes.
2 A 4 : 2 + 4 = 6
6 is my lucky number! So no wonder I'm so lucky to meet such a great gang of people!! :)
2 A 4 (Find the alphabet for the number)
2 : B
4 : D
So translation, 2A4 = BAD ! lol :D

The host parents are in Fukuoka prefecture now to watch Itaru's judo competition, leaving me alone in the house with Grandma & Kana.
Starting from next week Tuesday, summer holidays will start. Not sure what I'd be doing yet, but I do know that I'll be going to the AFS camp in Ohshima. So far, Mowee & me are just planning a lot of baking sessions. (Both of us are fat people at heart, we love to stuff ourselves silly with sweet stuff)
Crazy thing is, not all of the Jap students will be enjoying their 3 week holidays (shorter ones for those who got a week off during the influenza). They actually signed up for summer school & study camps!! -.- And club activities are still going on as usual. They work too hard, these people.
Well, since Leon asked me to blog more about my host family and friends here, I can only tell him this : to tell you the truth, I ain't that close to my Jap classmates here. I wouldn't call them good friends yet at this stage. There is very minimal conversation due to the huge language barrier and there are not many chances for me to hang out with them. Besides, I am not the most conversational person in the world. :P Perhaps I'll blog more about them in the near future when I have a closer relationship with them.
When the new school term starts, 4 of my classmates will leave to go on student exchange programmes. Shiozawa-kun & Ryuushi are going to US, Akira to Italy and Fukiko will be off to France. I'll miss them, the class will be so much quieter without them. One of the ALTs (Assistant Language Teacher), Nathan will also be going back to his home in the States. I will miss him too, he has been great company during my free periods and school festival.
Recently, I have been bored out of my wits in school. The classes are just soooooooo boring! Even my classmates are struggling to stay awake. For me, I can just flop onto my desk and the teachers won't care. Being a foreign exchange student gives me sleeping privileges. :) But honestly, I can't believe I actually miss the classes that I once despised back in CHS. At least they were a whole lot more interesting and I had friends to go crazy with during the in-between periods.

Nah. Another update. With pictures summore.

Still, I have definitely grown to love this sport and my respect for baseball players is heightened. Everyday (including weekends and public holidays) they practice for more than 4 hours a day. They are really dedicated to the sport and their spirit is so strong. It is very admirable. :)
Today's a public holiday which explains why I get to online now. I even attended an AFS curry part in Ina City this afternoon, which later on I joined Shiozawa-kun at his English cram school.
I went to watch my school's baseball match against Tokai Dai San yesterday in Ueda city. I followed the supporter's bus provided by the school. The journey to Ueda city took about 2 hours since it is in Southern Nagano.
The sun was simply blazing that afternoon. Did you know when I got back home, I got sunburnt and part of my legs not covered by my knee high socks were visibly darker. -.- I need to get stronger sunblock.
The chances of our school winning against Tokai were quite slim because Tokai is a private sports school and they had proven to be quite strong in the earlier rounds. But I was still keeping my hopes up high. Our school baseball team is at its best this year since established 20 years ago. They managed to win the first 2 preliminary rounds which was all against stronger baseball teams.
Coincidentally, this year was also our team's 20th year anniversary. So they were selling towels with the words "Fuetsu Baseball Team" and the team's colors emblazoned on it. It cost around 500 ¥and I didn't plan to buy one. But there was no need for that, a school teacher gave it to me as a present. :D
This was my first baseball match and it was really interesting. The baseball club juniors used megaphones and a Taiko drum to support the seniors who were playing. They even made up their own cheer song and there were even some dance moves. All of us were given cheer batons and we helped show our support. It was a very interesting sight, which just goes to show their love for baseball.
Sigh but sadly our baseball team just couldn't win against Tokai. They were just too strong, so we lost 0-8 and the match ended at the 7th round. :( Some of the baseball players cried 'cause it's a fact here that their dream is to play at the famous baseball stadium, Ko Shi En 甲子園 in the finals.
I hope at next year's tournament, Fuetsu baseball team will do much better and get to play at Ko Shi En. :D

This is the first time where my mum actually complains that I don't update my blog often enough. :P
Sorry, was too occupied with Japan life, not forgetting the unescapable fact that I have a lazybone in my body. So what's new with me?
Tons. Not something I can cover in just one blog post.
So I'll just type anything I scrape off the top of my mind.
Last night I had dinner at my LP's house along with Mowee and the 2 American students she's hosting. We had lots of fun chatting and stuffing ourselves silly with homemade pizza, lasagna and french fries. (Aren't we the healthy lot?) I had already met the 2 American gals before when they visited Fuetsu and at the English Salon but this was the only time that I really got to know them. I can't believe how much we have in common and I enjoyed talking to them.
The National Senior High Baseball Tournament is going on right now, which is a real big thing here in Japan. Daily updates are shown on TV and everyone is discussing about it. That just goes to show how much Japanese love the sport.
Tomorrow I'll be going to Ueda City on a school bus to support my school's baseball team. They've been doing really well so far, winning by a landslide at their past 2 games. The team's ace and pitcher also happens to be my classmate. So a lot of my classmates are going to the game to show their support for him. I'll also be doing that, but the main reason that motivated me to go is to watch my first baseball match. :)
Last month, my 2 Filippino friends invited me and Mowee to go to Tokyo Disneyland with them. But we turned their offer down because it's only been 4 months into our stay and we don't qualify for traveling without our host family. And today I also turned down an invitation to climb Mt Fuji with the Brazilians and Argentinans from Waraku. I don't think my host (and real) family will approve of me traveling without a familiar adult.
Oh yeah, on July 11-13th, I had my school festival ( 風越祭) :D
It was awesome and I loved it. There were performances, sports day and each class set up its own booth. My class set their booth theme about Australia 'cause they'll be going on exchange to Australia next year. We sold takoyaki and a snack that is shaped like koala bears. I was even given a job during the festival, which was to manage the shaved ice stall in the school canteen. It was pretty fun, since I got to play with ice and do a part in the festival.
Sorry about no pictures. Just skip to my Facebook album! :P
Now I shall flaunt what limited Japanese I have by typing this message to LH!! :) This is Japanese practice for you!
どうする??Reply me soon! :)
